Loma de Luz currently spends over $46,000 annually in electricity costs to "keep the lights on" and provide outpatient clinic, inpatient, pharmacy, laboratory, and surgical services through their medical ministry serving the rural poor on the North Coast of Honduras.  Additionally, Loma de Luz provides education through El Camino Bilingual School to nearly 150 students annually (and growing) and cares for approx 40 children in the Sanctuary House Children's Center.  This project will begin the move to a more sustainable energy platform utilizing various forms of solar energy to reduce the electricity bill allowing more donated funds to go directly to patient care, child care, and education!  The first three steps to be undertaken by the project will be to convert expensive electric water heaters to solar water heating, cover auxiliary buildings with solar panels, and begin to install a 27KW solar project in the main hospital.
