Pharmacy Building Opening Celebration
April 28, 2023
We are proud that the University of Maryland Eastern Shore has more health professions programs than any other HBCU in the U.S. Our students not only benefit from hands-on learning – their work also impacts important communities of professionals who work on the front lines of health, business, and so much more.
On April 28, 2023, we will open a new School of Pharmacy and Health Professions building, serving both graduate and undergraduate students studying important health and behavioral health issues that are so critical to our communities. The Celebration will include a 11:00 AM Ribbon Cutting and tour of the new facility for friends, local officials, and alumni. Light refreshments will be served. That evening we will hold a dinner featuring key representatives from the School of Pharmacy, and guest speakers. There will also be a short, musical performance by two Pharmacy faculty members. Tickets are $100 and tables of eight for $750. Sponsorship opportunities are also available and can be viewed on this page. For naming opportunities in the new building, please contact David Balcom, [email protected] or 443-397-0231.
Your support strengthens our pipeline of health care professionals, including pharmacists, rehabilitation counselors, physical therapists, physician assistants, pre-med and pre-vet students as they complete their UMES degrees and move on to careers or postgrad programs.
UMES, a Top-20 HBCU, continues to be a beacon of hope in our community! By educating and training students from near and far, the University supports public education, farming, business, rural health and the many needs of our local communities! Our students are being equipped to work in eight health care professions as well as in many other careers. Additionally, UMES is home to Maryland’s only Aviation Science Program and one of only 18 PGA Golf Management Programs: the only HBCU in the country to offer this degree.
UMES provides individuals, including first generation college students, access to a learning environment that fosters multicultural diversity, academic success, and intellectual and social growth.
UMES prepares graduates to address challenges in a global knowledge-based economy, while maintaining its commitment to meeting the workforce and economic development needs of the Eastern Shore, the state, the nation and the world.
