Hi, I’m Homer, the Trojan Pig! My epic piggy odyssey began when I was designed by artist Peter Loh for Pigs on Parade ’07. I was adopted at auction right away – it was one of those things where you go to an auction and wake up the next day wondering if you just bought a pig…and then I showed up a week later!
My new piggy parent had worked for the Green Diamond Resource Company for many years, and served on the board for the American Wood Council, so when she saw me in my unpainted cedar glory – well, I guess you ‘wood’ say it was a match made in heaven (or should I say Olympos)! I have been very comfortable living on her deck in Queen Anne ever since, staring out at the wine-dark sea below.
I strongly support the Pike Place Market Foundation’s mission of providing access to quality childcare and preschool. My adoptive parent is a proud aunt and great aunt and is active on the board of Grandmothers Against Gun Violence, not to mention former president of MOHAI! As I’ve come to learn, not only is a classical education important, but instilling a sense of community at such a young age is so key to the continuity of the entire neighborhood!
