A MESSAGE FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Since day one as leader of Privateer Athletics, my team and I have been committed to developing a championship culture. Step one was meeting with every member of the Athletics Department. Step two was connecting with Privateer Nation through my entry campaign, #100Meetings100Days. The third step was to utilize the findings from those meetings to create our strategic plan, #NOLAsTeam 2025 Strategic Plan. You can find the plan here.
The plan provides us with a path forward to creating an environment where our student-athletes can compete academically, win championships, and serve our community. Some of the successes this year include:
- Men’s Basketball won the most consecutive games (9) in almost 25 years.
- Men’s Tennis won the Southland Conference regular season, the Southland Conference Tournament, and participated in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships for the first time in school history.
- Beach Volleyball had the Southland Conference Pair of the Year in Ania Esarte and Lucie Pokorna and had three students earn spots on the SLC All-Academic Team.
- Baseball won the Privateer Cup by volunteering the most hours to serving the New Orleans community.
Although we have made significant strides in the past three years, we need your help to continue our ascent to the very top of the Southland Conference and beyond. It is my hope that you will consider being a part of this growth by participating in the Drive for 504.
The Drive for 504 is our ambitious goal to finish this fiscal strong with 504 unique donors by June 30, 2022. Over the past three years, we have steadily increased the number of financial contributors from 275 donors in 2019, to 400 total donors last June.
Whether you give to the Privateer Scholarship Fund, which aids in providing scholarships for all student-athletes or you choose to support your favorite Privateer Team to help them with special projects above and beyond their budget, every donation counts! Your gift today will provide an outstanding boost to the support we can provide to your Privateers. Every gift counts, so the question I have for you is…will you be in that number?
Warmest Privateer Regards,
Vice President of Athletics & Recreation
