WWE Superstar, Sami Zayn has teamed up with the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) Foundation to provide life-saving medical care to conflict-affected populations in northwest Syria. Your support for Sami's campaign has made a world of difference!
Thanks to donors like you, SAMS launched the SAMI FOR SYRIA Mobile Medical Clinic, a specially modified vehicle, fully equipped with examination rooms, medical equipment and staffed by a physician, midwife, nurse, pharmacy technician, data entry specialist, and the driver. Sami's mobile medical clinic travels from camp to camp in northwest Syria, delivering urgently needed medical services free of charge to displaced civilians.
In 2022, with your support, SAMS and Sami launched a second mobile medical clinic. The second mobile clinic travels to the high-population area of Ras Al-Ayn, Syria, serving an average of 100 beneficiaries per day and extending care to 6 more villages. The clinic includes a general physician, a midwife, a nurse, and a pharmacy technician, and it serves the western countryside of Ras al-Ayn region, providing care 6 days a week.
Approximately, 4.4 million people live in northwest Syria, including 2.8 million people (63%) who are internally displaced. At least 1.7 million people continue to live in internal displacement camps, with limited access to food, water, sanitation, and medical care. At least 4.1 million people or 93% of the population is in need of humanitarian aid.
Thanks to your continued generosity, Sami's two mobile clinics are delivering nearly 4,000 medical services per month, free of charge to families and children who have no other way to access the medical care they need. Many of our beneficiaries include patients with chronic disease, such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, and other cardiovascular conditions, as well as malnourished children, and women suffering from gynecological conditions.
The first SAMI FOR SYRIA Mobile Clinic (shown above) is providing 2,350 consultations per month, visiting eighteen internal displacement camps, all within a 10 - 12 KM radius of Hazano Primary Health Center in northwest Syria. These camps are almost visited on a bi-weekly basis.
The second SAMI FOR SYRIA Mobile Clinic (shown above) provides about 1,500 consultations per month and covers a radius of 55 KM from Mahtele Primary Health Care Center in northern Syria.
During a recent trip to one of the camps, we met Mr. Fajr Al-Jadoa, 55 years, who, is from the eastern countryside of Hama and resides in Al-Kandoush camp.
"From the beginning of the military campaign that our region was subjected to, my family and I were subjected to repeated displacement to the Maarat al-Numan area, where I was hit by shelling and had many injuries. My family and I then fled to the city of Saraqib, and then to the town of Binnish, and then recently to the Kandoush camp on the outskirts of the town of Kili, in search of safety for me and my family.
