The Joyce and Henry Schwob School of Music is a community of artists and creative innovators. Especially in 2020, we recognize the importance of creating a safe space for students to practice and share their music with the community. This year, as we have seen our students and faculty adapt and find new ways to safely inspire, engage, and create, we invite our alumni to help us continue to create opportunities for growth and success.
The Schwob Alumni Challenge aims to raise $50,000. All alumni gifts will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous donor who has agreed to give up to $25,000 throughout the campaign. Gifts to the Patrons of Music of any size will all be DOUBLED. These gifts will support the following critical areas in the Schwob School of Music:
Scholarships: 135 students (more than half of the Schwob School!) receive scholarship support. The Schwob School recruits the best and brightest from across the globe. Scholarships allow our students to focus on mastering their craft and taking advantage of all their programs have to offer.
The Black Schwob Society: The Black Schwob Society is the first Black student union at the Schwob School of Music, Columbus State University. We aim to highlight and educate on the experiences, concerns, and diverse cultures of Black students, specifically in the music department. Your gift supports the Black Schwob Society and the Schwob School's commitment to diversity and inclusivity, as well as excellence in practice and performance.
Emergency Support for Students: In this unprecedented time, we recognize that students may be struggling. Our top priorities are keeping students safe and keeping students enrolled and on track. A portion of The Schwob Alumni Challenge supports emergency scholarships that students may access in times of need. In the summer of 2020, emergency funding helped international students secure housing when they realized they could not travel home at the end of the spring semester.
The Schwob Alumni Challenge will also support new opportunities for growth and success. Student experiences and needs are the most important areas of support and your gift will make a tremendous impact in their lives. In addition to making a one-time gift, you also have the opportunity to participate in Take A Seat, the CSU College of the Arts seat naming opportunity in Legacy Hall. For each gift of $250 you can name a seat in Legacy Hall to commemorate yourself or a loved one. Click on the giving button above to learn more!
Thank you for all of the ways you represent the Schwob School of Music as proud and engaged alumni. We appreciate your support!
