TeamCCF began in 2016 as a way to raise money through athletic events for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.

Burning Survivors and Galileo Research are teaming up to raise money for CCF this year to honor and hold in memory Toka Ball, an incredible artist, friend, supporter and light in the world who was also a Burning Survivor, living her life to the fullest until she was gone.

What is Burning Survivors?
Burning Survivors began as a walk at the Burning Man in 2006, and continues to this day, to celebrate the fact that we are negotiating cancer and living our lives. We are radically surviving. We are community. We are present.
What is a TRY?
Some days when dealing with cancer, all you can do is TRY to walk outside for a moment or TRY to get up the stairs. But at other times you feel like you can TRY to climb a mountain. A TRY is anything YOU can do physically to push yourself forward, and at the same time assist another in the community who needs help. A TRY is any physical feat you train for, push yourself to do, and raise money for your favorite cancer-related non-profit organization. For some, it can be a triathlon or climbing a mountain, while for others walking a 5k or even around the block is a huge feat.
Our team are each choosing a TRY that is meaningful to us!
Alex, founder of Burning Survivors, is going to climb Mt. Greylock. Before cancer, she was able to climb easily, but decades later it feels insurmountable. It's time to TRY and push to get it back.
Karen is doing a Swim/Run duathlon to go beyond her routine and add an element she isn't used to.
Hina is swimming 50 laps to push herself to confront her fear of swimming.
Sarah is going to represent the marathon that is cancer by running 1 mile every hour for 12 hours, truly embodying never stopping
Mary is going to get on a bike and ride some hills in New Hampshire, representing how the ups and downs are what it's about.
Jess is going to take the day to walk 10 miles up the West Side highway, through different paths, people and to the bridge, traversing beyond where she's gone before
Michelle is stretching herself to pick running back up and chart a 5-mile course through Portland, OR, and bringing in some inspiration and help from her community, moving on to do a CrossFit WOD!

Founded in 2006, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation is a global 501(c)(3) non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to supporting patients and rendering cholangiocarcinoma a treatable disease.
