Determined East:
For the serious cyclist, the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists is hosting the seventh annual Determined Ride (formerly called Tour de Youth). Scheduled for April 2-7, 2023, this six-day cycling tour will benefit students throughout Texas.
A physical challenge for the cyclist, this tour is 300+ miles from Garland, Texas, to Henderson, Texas (East Texas). It is also a humanitarian ride as we bring awareness to the growing problem of youth and adult obesity, especially in the southern United States.
Ten out of the 11 states that have increased rates of obesity are in the south. Children between 2 and 19 years of age are recording dangerous levels of obesity and unhealthy lifestyle choices. These statistics compel us to say, "We need to do more."
If the Determined official cycling tour is not an option for you, join VIRTUALLY in your own area by riding, walking or running on your own OR start a team in your community, church or school. Click the Sign Up button to register and let us know you are partnering with us.
You can also partner with us by giving a financial gift. Click the Make a Donation button and select a name to credit your gift or select Determined Donors to join others like yourself desiring to make an eternal difference for our young people.
Join us and walk, ride or run towards a healthier Texas or make a tax-deductible gift to support one of our team members!
Remember, you can participate virtually. Click the Sign Up button to Run, Walk or Ride or create your own team.

About the Determined Official Cycling Tour:
- 6 days of cycling – April 2-7, 2023
- 300+ miles total, an average of 55 miles/day
- Limited to 30 riders
- Each rider has a fundraising goal of $2500
- Proceeds will help students attend Texas Conference schools as well as create programs to promote health
The seventh annual Determined Cycling Tour is scheduled for April 2-7, 2023.
This physically challenging ride from Garland to Henderson, Texas, is also a humanitarian endeavor as cyclists stop at schools along the way to share the importance of a regular exercise program. The cyclists love to encourage the kids to ride bikes, of course, but are happy to just encourage them to be active.
The Centers for Disease and Prevention website shares "Childhood obesity is a serious problem in the United States, putting children and adolescents at risk for poor health."
Having a regular exercise program helps individuals both physically and mentally.
In addition to promoting an active life that helps both physically and mentally, the cyclists have a fundraising goal of $2,500. Proceeds from the tour are added to an endowment that will provide financial scholarships for students desiring to attend a Texas Conference school.
