2020 Model United Nations
Please help UNO students participate in the 2020 National Model United Nations conferences in New York and Kobe, Japan March 28th to April 3rd, 2020!
What Will Your Support Do?
Your contribution will enable UNO students to participate in exciting simulations of United Nations activity involving thousands of students to be held in New York City and Kobe, Japan. In New York, our many debating and resolution-writing sessions will culminate in a final meeting in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations headquarters building itself.
We are already hard at work in a special International Studies class (INTLS 3060) studying parliamentary procedure, public speaking, debating and a host of international issues. We believe we are building upon our successful twelve-year track record at the prestigious NMUN gathering and, in November 2018, our award-winning participation in our first international conference in Xi'an, China. Your support, enhanced by matching grants from the university, will help to cover the lodging, airfare and conference costs of our student delegations.
What do students gain by participating?
The UNO Model United Nations Club (UNOMUN) allows students from throughout the university to conduct research on international and global issues facing the actual United Nations and to improve their public speaking, negotiating, and writing skills. In this way, students learn how to think, speak, and act as diplomats representing a specifically assigned member nation of the UN and, more broadly, to become more effective and confident leaders, committed to making a difference in the world and in their communities.
