Providing basic needs to ensure health, hope, & dignity

United Way of Licking County (UWLC) is excited to pilot the Hygiene Hub in Licking County high schools. We plan to provide stand-alone cupboards and essential hygiene items to four high schools. Newark City, Heath City, North Fork, and Licking Valley Schools were chosen due to their high A.L.I.C.E. demographics. ALICE stands for Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed. The working families struggle to provide food, shelter, transportation, and basic essentials such as deodorant, shampoo, and soap. Studies show that lack of access to basic necessities is a leading reason for chronic absenteeism. For these children, lost school time means lost learning time, which can leave them less likely to achieve academic success.
