HELP SECURE BASIC NEEDS FOR ALL VC STUDENTS
Ventura College is committed to providing an educational environment that fosters compassion and respect, welcomes diversity, and supports students in various circumstances (e.g., homeless students, students experiencing housing and/or food insecurities, etc.).
To accomplish this, the college has created in 2018 the Ventura College Basic Needs Center, an on-campus resource center that assists students in meeting their basic needs and promoting their academic success.
WHAT ARE BASIC NEEDS?
The Ventura College Basic Needs Center refers to the food, stable housing, and wellness security of students at Ventura College, as well as community members. The center provides a wide range of programs, services, and resources that assist VC students in meeting their basic needs and promoting their academic success.
BASIC NEEDS SNAPSHOT
Basic needs security has been shown to have a direct impact on the health, mental health, emotional health, wellness, academic performance, professional development, and holistic success of the college’s students.
As a result, the Ventura College Basic Needs Center continually looks to increase accessibility to food, housing, mental wellness along with financial resources.
