"Nā Kaʻi Pōhili", when translated means "The Baseball Coaches." However, Ka'i or Ka'ina is also the term for a "procession" in the way whales migrate across the ocean, and the pō in Pōhili also carries the meaning of "ancestral source." This deeper translation perfectly encapsulates our clinic's goal — to have Hawaii's homegrown major league coaches and players return home and serve as a source of information for the local baseball and softball community.
In their first 2 years, NKP was attended by 400 local coaches and raised approximately 10,000 meals for local families. This year, we have partnered with the Maui Food Bank to assist communities directly impacted by the wildfires as the holiday season approaches. We have also partnered with USA Baseball Community Clinics in hopes of providing additional free coaching resources to local baseball and softball coaches.
