We need your help to launch The Kyangwali Refugee Settlement Singing Tree Project for Healing the Trauma of War. This community-involved, collaborative art project will address the traumas suffered by the more than 125,000 refugees and asylum-seekers, most from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, now living at Kyangwali in Northern Uganda.

This Singing Tree is the pilot of a five-year project.  We already have half of the $21,000 needed.  There is only $10,500 to go. That’s where you come in.

You will give the youth, adults, and elders of Kyangwali a foundational experience in practical peace-building. Participants will gain tools to become creative peace leaders to engage this refugee community in healing the trauma of war and addressing other challenges in their community.

The Forest of Singing Trees (https://www.unitythroughcreativity.org/gallery) has been growing for 20 years. 21,000 people in 52 countries have taken part. Now we are taking the Singing Tree into the growing refugee community of our planet.

The Kyangwali Refugee Settlement Singing Tree Project is part of Unity Through Creativity’s 5x5 Project - 5 Singing Trees in 5 countries for 5 years.  The other countries are Cyprus, England, Peru, and the United States.  All these projects will be connecting with each other in mutual support, sharing their creativity and building strength and skills for Peace Leadership.

We are living in a time of compounded trauma.  Please support the Kyangwali Singing Tree to help people transform pain into purpose and trauma into beauty. Please help us build the peaceful world we know is possible.
