The 2019 Virtual Race
The Canton community was shaken by the recent news that one of its outstanding athletes, Timmy Ward, has been diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. Timmy has made a great impact on the town on and off the field. Like a true warrior, he continues to fight this battle everyday and soon he will claim victory. Everyone is looking forward to seeing him back in the classroom and on the field again.
Just days before Timmy’s news hit, my mother, Carlene Apker (Ma) was diagnosed with breast cancer. Although it is difficult to hear this news at first, Ma has been strong, positive, and continues to be the rock of our family. Soon she will start radiation treatments and after that she too will win the biggest fight of her life.
These two will continue to move forward each day and know they are one step closer to victory. However, they are not in this fight alone, as they have more support than they realize. Join me in funding this research as scientists strive to bring hope to families and a cure to all affected.
