K9 Beau served the citizens of Harrisburg City, (PA) as a duel purpose K9 from 2013-2022. He worked on the midnight shift, then worked on the Street Crimes Unit. A fierce warrior on the street and (almost) a normal family dog while off-duty. Beau had several apprehensions and assisted in keeping the streets of Harrisburg safe. Now that he is retired, Beau spends his days on his dog bed waiting for Dad to get home. He has a younger brother,Neko- that keeps him young at heart. He lives for treats- he loves green beans and sweet potatoes. When he is awake, he enjoys chewing on antlers or a Nylabone.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
