K9 Bob is a 11 year old Golden Retriever born in Germany. Bob was trained as an Explosives Detection Canine and graduated with the Top Dog Award of Class 13-09P at the National Explosives Detection Canine training center at Lackland AFB. K9 Bob served the traveling public as a TSA K9 at La Guardia Airport from 2013 - 2015 and John F. Kennedy International Airport from 2015 - 2019.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
