"

Brutus is one of the most fun-loving canines I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Everyone swears he is part human and understands everything you tell him. He has an extensive travel history as he was allowed to go with me while I was in Georgia for the military. That was a 6-month trip that took him to just about every state in on the east coast. He has traveled via commercial aircraft as well as military. He is the kind of dog that puts a smile on everyone’s face and eats your whole lunch if you let him. He has an extensive narcotic seizure history during his time as a working canine valued in the millions of dollars. No doubt he has saved lives by using his nose for the good. His favorite activities now include floating on a raft in the pool, hunting field mice and sunbathing on warm days. While popcorn is his all-time favorite, he is a lab and will not turn down any treat. He has brought me more joy than I could ever put into words!"

Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.

Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
