Cooper came to the Fayetteville Police Department in North Carolina all the way from Holland. Since retirement he has traveled to the Chicago area and the states in between. Shortly after retirement we moved from NC to Texas where he has been living out his days. Coop can not have treats because of his Intestinal disease IBD, but we loves all VERY Indestructible toys as he is a major chewer. Now that he’s retired he like to follow his handler everywhere and bath in the Texas sun in the grass.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
