Donna was stationed in Jacksonville FL as a CBP Narcotics/Human Detection Dog with numerous TDYs to the southwest border. Her primary duties while at work was sniffing anything coming in from foreign. Her area of operation was North Florida . Donna was involved in numerous narcotics seizures through her career racking in just shy of 1,000 finds ( mostly from cruise ship operations). Donna would assist CBP AMO and USCG on flights and off shore boardings in the Atlantic Oceans and Gulf of Mexico as well as assist outside federal, state, and local LE agencies upon request. Donna conducted numerous K9 demonstrations for schools and recruitment events. She received numerous “Top Dog” awards for Field Office annual certifications. Her contribution helped contribute to her handler receiving a CBP Blue Eagle award.

Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.

Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
