My partner in crime (prevention) goes by the name Duke LeDuc. He was born on January 29th 2017, to two presumably happy, ALLEGEDLY Labrador retriever parents. (He looks mixed) He was named in honor of Alexis LeDuc, a victim of the 911 tragedy. Alexis LeDuc was a family man, father, and avid toy collector who lost his life while working from the 97th floor of one of the twin towers. Duke who was close to one and a half when we first met in October of 2018 and began working together, is now almost seven years old. Once we graduated canine school, we returned home to Los Angeles California, stationed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), under the current guidance of federal security director Jason Pantages. During our time working together we did numerous deployments to work and/or train such as San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, Phoenix, Indiana, Philadelphia, and Auburn University. In his off time Duke loves going anywhere there’s wet grass to roll in. His favorite treats are anything in crumb form that may have fallen on the floor. If he had a part time job other than bomb sniffing, it would be finding food, he’s definitely a foodie. His favorite toys are anything that squeak and so far the wubba has lasted the longest. When he’s not working, eating, sleeping, pooping, or playing, he loves singing to Bruno Mars or The Weekend.

Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.

Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
