Ellie May and her handler started working together in July 2015. They had many successful tracks finding missing persons and lost kids over the 6 years of working together. Her favorite tracking treats are Pedigree Little Champions. Ellie May has tracked individuals not only in the Commonwealth of Virginia but also in West Virginia and North Carolina. She was the third K9 unit with the Virginia State Police to be added to the FBI call out roster to assist the federal agency in their cases. Since her retirement, Ellie May has been living it up walking with her handler/owner and soaking up the sun on her own front porch keeping her handler's/owner's residence safe.

Ellie May and her handler were featured on wsls channel 10 news after a successful track locating an elderly woman who went missing from her residence and located in another county.

Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.

Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
