K9 Fata was assigned to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and trained in Explosive Detection. Fata worked at the Newark Liberty International Airport from August 2018 to May 2022. K9 Fata was born without a gallbladder. Unfortunately, her condition impeded her to continue working. She retired to her handler and now enjoys chasing crickets, swimming, taking hikes, and playing with any tennis ball that squeaks.

Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.

Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
