K9 Jake worked as an Explosive Detection dog for the United States Secret Service from 2014 to 2021. He is a fun and energetic Lab. He has traveled extensively throughout the United States to places in Florida, Indiana, Ohio, and New Hampshire, just to name a few. He also spent a week in Israel, which is where his affinity for foreign travel began. He loves elk antlers, dental chews, and anything that squeaks! He spends most of his days now lounging and playing with, or keeping away, from his one and three year old human brothers.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
