Jane is an explosive Detection Canine and has worked with me for the past seven years. Jane has worked in the DC area and has traveled around the world with me. When Jane is off, she loves to take naps and play with her human siblings. Jane has always been motivated to do what has been needed, as far as work goes and has been willing to do the long hours that is needed, Jane loves to take walks and play with her toys and loves to have a good human snack when no one is looking.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
