K9 Kratos worked for the Roanoke Police Dept for 6 yrs as a patrol and narcotics K9. During his time here he was involved in countless high tartlet arrest at both local and federal level. During his last few working days K9 Kratos was apart of Federal task force when his back went out and put him down. After learning of the three herniated discs and not being able to operate he has since been enjoying a lot of lounging and sun time.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
