Magic was brought to Delaware to serve with the Delaware State Police Canine Unit. He was assigned to his Handler Master Corporal Erik Foraker (Retired), where they served as a single purpose explosives team for 8 years. Together, they served the citizens of Kent County, Delaware, as well as working with the Amtrak Police Department, United States Air Force and other agencies within the State of Delaware. Throughout his career, Magic took part in numerous public safety demonstrations, and community events such as the NASCAR races at Dover Downs, and music events including Firefly. Magic moved out to the country with his family, and now enjoys running around farm fields, taking truck rides and laying on his bed next to a work bench in a shop. He loves beggin strips, pig ears and anything meat flavored. Magic has met numerous politicians and famous people. His meet and greet at a charity benefit with country music artist Sam Grow was one of the coolest.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
