Murphy was purchased in August 2012 and began k9 school on September 10 2012- January 4 2013. He attended narcotics detection school from January 10, 2015 through March 8, 2015. He was certified through the United States police canine association in patrol, tracking and narcotics detection. He also qualified nationally in patrol as well. Throughout his career he had many criminal apprehensions through tracking and building searches. He also located items through article searches to include evidence from burglaries and firearms from shootings.

Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.

Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
