Canine Onar was assigned to me as a dual purpose canine from Fall 2016 to Fall of 2023. He was NPCA certified in patrol and explosives. We traveled up and down the state as needed to assist our state and local agencies. K-9 Onar's favorite job to do was conduct tracks, which he excelled in. K-9 Onar has traveled to New Jersey and Pennsylvania both for training and to assist other agencies with K-9 related tasks. K-9 Onar's favorite treats are his Greenies Dental treats. In his down time, K-9 Onar loves to play chuck-it and run up and down the fence with the neighbors dog.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
