K9 Pink worked for eight years as a Cadaver dog for Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in Alabama. Since this type of K9 is hard to come by, Pink was used by several surrounding agencies. K9 Pink was recognized by the FBI for her work on helping to track, and locate, the body of a kidnapped child, Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney. Pink also helped locate evidence leading to the conviction of four suspects in a murder.

During retirement, K9 Pink suddenly fell ill and needed emergency surgery. Her handler reached out to Paws of Honor, and we were honored to help this hero, and her family. Pink's doctor called her a "miracle dog." We are so happy to report that Pink is healthy and living her best life!

Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.

Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
