Since 2019 K9 Puk worked for the Transportation Security Administration specializing in Explosive Detection working at Boston Logan Airport. Puk was able travel to Los Angeles, CA in 2022 to provide support for Super Bowl LVI. Most recently Puk was chosen to be featured in TSA’s 2024 Canine calendar for the month of October. Puk is enjoying the retired life taking walks, playing fetch with her favorite tennis ball and of course working on her tan
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
