In 2018 Canine Roscoe and Technician William Csikos, Denver Police Department, were introduced at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. After 10 weeks of training together in the National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program, Tech Csikos and Canine Roscoe were assigned to Denver International Airport. Canine Roscoe served with the Denver Police Department on the Canine Detection Explosives Unit for five successful years, until he retired 07/2023, with Tech Csikos. During Canine Roscoe’s Career he was given the opportunity to support explosives detection at Super Bowl LIV, in Miami, FL. Canine Roscoe has started a well deserved “Retirement Life” since July 2023. Since selling the family home, Roscoe has hit the road full time looking for the best dog park in America. Roscoe has driven 4500 miles, visited 13 states and tested every dog park along the way. Roscoe lives for his ball so it is easy putting each park through the test. Roscoe’s biggest challenge is getting out of “work mode” and becoming a dog. In our travels, Roscoe has discovered water, so any river, pond, lake or ocean he has been to, it’s all about going for a swim. Roscoe has also become interested in any bird that flies, including birds that don’t, like all the roosters in Key West, FL. Roscoe's Journey has just begun and he only got a little taste of it in 2023

Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.

Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
