Paws of Honor has joined forces with Hurricane’s Heroes to help retired Military and Law Enforcement working K9s across the country receive the veterinary care they deserve!
K9 Tomi worked for the Delaware State Police as a Dual-Purpose canine for nine years. During Tomi's career, he apprehended several fleeing suspects, helped seize a countless amount of illegal drugs, and recovered numerous stolen firearms. He was one of the best narcotic detection canines. In Tomi's down time, he likes to herd his human pack of children around the house and pool. Tomi also loves water time and takes leisurely swims on hot days.
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
