K9 Tygo worked for the Branson Police Department in Missouri for almost six years. Tygo detained multiple wanted suspects, helped with seizing over $40,000 in illegal drug money, and detected 11,000+ grams of illegal narcotics. On January 5, 2022, Tygo was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, leading to his final call and retirement. If it wasn't for his diagnosis, he would happily be patrolling the streets of Branson, making so many new friends!
Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field.
Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program.
