In 2020, I was able to take a (much needed!) trip with my family to Oak Island because of Little Pink Houses of Hope- after a double mastectomy with reconstruction, 5 months of Chemo and 26 Radiation treatments. I can't wait to help others have a chance to experience the blessing that is Little Pink Houses of Hope!

Why am I here? How did I get here? And how do I turn my pain into purpose? Hi! My name is Emily Wolfe and I am a 7 year breast cancer advocate and an 11 month cancer survivor. I became involved with breast cancer advocacy after my mother-in-law Lori underwent treatment for her own breast cancer diagnosis in 2015. I was drawn to the pink bubble and knew I was meant to be apart of the fight. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2021 at the age of 29. With 3 small daughters at home I underwent 16 chemotherapies, a double mastectomy, 33 radiations, endured Breast Implant Illness, and am now explanted to flat awaiting my final surgery. Breast cancer has been hard, unbearable at times, but every time I want to give up I remember all the fighters that have gone before us, the thrivers, and those who will be diagnosed. Little Pink sent our family to OBX in May of 2021. I was able to take a week “recharge” after finishing my AC chemo. The gift of time spent outside a doctors office and not talking about cancer was indescribably perfect. Our family wants to help ensure other families and couples have the same gift. So why am I here? How did I get here? I believe I am here to help write someone’s survival guide and I was sent here to make a difference! Please help me.

I was given a trip from LPOH during the time of my journey I was simply exhausted. I was spiritually, emotionally, and physically exhausted. I told the doctor I was stopping treatment. To go on a vacation and everything was taken care of was such a huge blessing!! People don’t realize how important getting away from doctors, treatments, and plans are to a cancer patient. I want to raise as much money as I can to ensure that many families can have a vacation.

My husband and I were chosen for the New Smyrna Beach Retreat in November, 2017. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, de novo, in March, 2015 and given 6 months to live. The retreat was such a relief - no financial burden. Meeting others in the same position as myself. Bonding with the families. Laughing. Smiling. The peaceful feeling, the activities, it was all just a huge weight off our shoulders for one week in time. I want others to experience this peace, this companionship, the fun. It is a great feeling to know you aren't alone in what you're going through.

I am a proud mom of 3, a wife, the daughter of a breast cancer survivor nurse, an English & writing tutor, a freelance notary, a business administrator, and a blogger. The commitment to making a difference in the world and helping others do the same is what defines an incredible human being. Even though my brain is always working, I rarely have a moment of peace because I am constantly worried about my daughters and their well-being. One thing remains and that is the need of going the extra mile doing what others might seem like too much work but for me is the path to success and achievement.

Hello, LPHOH My name is Grace, I was diagnosed back in 2014. I am a single mother of 2 boys, they was 11 and 4 back then. I was told, U have 2 months! What exactly do you do with that information!!?? I thought I was dreaming. Once I walked out of that Doctor's Office, I was confused at what was just said. Do I tell my boys? Do I tell my mother and sister? Do I tell my job? Am I really going to have JUST 2 MONTHS?? There were so many questions. I decided not to tell anyone. I will keep this information to myself. That was that. I would get my kids up and get them ready for school then I would go to work, day after day like it was on repeat. I would only cry in my car coming back from work and then go home and cook dinner and get my kids settled down for the evening and cry when I'm in the bathroom once they are down for the night. I did this till the day of my surgery, that was the only time I let my boys know that, Mommy is going to have surgery today, I will be ok and we can go home after this, like it was something normal to say to your kids. After that, I had to try my best to get up and do what needed to be done as a mother. I literally was doing this and going thru this all alone, didnt have any support. So once I was in healing process, I noticed that my skin was opening up from the surgery, I know for a fact, that was not normal. When I called the DR, I was told thats normal to wait a few days to heal and that's that. I did just that, but it was getting worse, So I had to be admitted to redo the surgery due to "Their" mistake. Unnecessary surgery, that could've been prevented. Life had to continue on, I have 2 boys, responsibilities. It has been 9 years going strong!

Thanks to LPHOH, my family and I were able to go to Orange Beach for an entire week a couple of years ago. While there, we not only experienced some of the most wonderful and long lasting memories but we also gained some truly incredible life long friendships. Our husbands got to chat and share their experiences. Our children met others whose lives reflected theirs and, even though they live all over the US, they STILL keep in touch. Recently, one of our friends passed away. She fought so long and so hard, all while making it her mission to build happy memories for her children, and while leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion with all of those that she ever touched. It is absolutely not fair that we are without this incredible woman, Amanda Westhouse, but we never would’ve missed the opportunity to meet her for anything in the world. I want to be sure that other families have the same opportunities and Little Pink Houses Of Hope is the perfect way for this to happen.

There have been many people in my life who have battled breast cancer. When I originally got involved with Little Pink, I did so to honor my grandmother, Mama Jewel. She had breast cancer and a double mastectomy when she was fairly young and before the advances in medicine that we know today. I have been a supporter of Little Pink from the very beginning, first as a volunteer and then as an employee for a period of time. Little Pink will always hold a special place in my heart for all of the families that I have had the opportunity to meet through the program. I am excited to help support their mission to provide vacations for breast cancer families in such a fun and unique way.

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 when she turned 40. The events and emotions to follow are really nothing anyone can prepare you for. There were a number of different resources at our fingertips to help with financial planning, support groups, therapy, information, camps for kids, alternative treatment plans, but the last thing on our mind was how to take a family vacation. When my wife told me about Little Pink Houses of Hope and the vacation they were going to provide our family, I was overcome with what felt like a warm embrace of solace. We have an outstanding community of friends and family that have gone above and beyond throughout our battle with cancer. I truly believe that our friends and family are sincere when offering help with everything, but for me I could not help but feel guilty for accepting any money to use toward what seemed like wasteful spending. Little Pink Houses of Hope tackles a part of healing that often gets overlooked or is just out of reach for most. I can only assume that there are others that experience the same feelings I have felt, when offered help from their loved ones. I believe that with the support of Little Pink, more healing can happen, or more importantly, more positive moments can be shared with family. Little Pink gave us an opportunity to step away from the burden of appointments, treatments, bills, insurance, work, school, and stress. With that, I feel compelled to help however I can so that another family can experience the same healing experience we were offered.

Little Pink provides week long vacations for breast cancer patients AND their families to put a pause on cancer treatments and doctor appointments. This fundraiser will directly help Little Pink cover the cost of travel for families who are in need. Imagine being gifted a vacation of a lifetime and having to decline because you can’t get there? I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. Between the doctors visits, testing, chemo, and surgeries it was a bit of a whirlwind. I don’t remember a whole lot… And neither do my girls, they were pretty young. Fast forward to 2021, I was re-diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. This time is different, as I will be on some sort of infusion for the rest of my life, no matter how long or short it will be. My girls are now 9 and 12, so it’s a lot more real for them this time. I own my own business, but with the neuropathy it’s hard for me to do. My husband has a fantastic job that has great health insurance so we are blessed. Little Pink Houses of Hope allowed me to take my family on a weeks vacation with no doctors appointments, no chemo and no big expenses other than our airfare. My girls got to see a relaxed week at the beach and experience so many great new things. It made me feel like I could give some thing back to my family for all the time I’ve taken from them. This fundraiser is a way for me to help other breast cancer families take their vacation. Little Pink Houses of Hope is going to start helping families with their travel expenses! Please help me hit my goal of $1500 for Little Pink!! A part of our hearts will always be in North Carolina

Two years ago this month I was still working on being able to lift my arms above my head as I was recovering from a double mastectomy. Breast cancer is terrible, exhausting, and overwhelming. And it affects the whole family. After an intense, taxing year dealing with cancer, our family received an unbelievable gift from Little Pink Houses of Hope --> a free week-long retreat. Yep, free. No strings attached. A week away. Accommodations., meals, and activities. Time to connect. Joy. Laughter. Rest. Memories. Our girls *still* ask if we can go back to Florida. After that, I also had the joy of volunteering with Little Pink on a retreat and got to witness the power of this gifted time away in other families' lives. I'm just here to say - Little Pink's gift of time, memories, and rest has powerful and lasting impact on families. It's more than a free vacation. During an awful, awful time in their lives, Little Pink showers breast cancer families with love and support, which empowers them to keep walking the grueling journey with cancer.I'm overjoyed to be able to raise my arms high over my head again as I cheer on other breast cancer families. I want more families to experience this time of healing and connection that Little Pink provides. Will you help me support Little Pink Houses of Hope so they can continue to offer families this wonderful gift!?My goal is to raise $2500+. I believe we can make this happen and help bring a little bit of goodness and hope to some more breast cancer families.

Little Pink House of Hope (LPHH) provided our family with the opportunity to pause and appreciate life. My breast cancer diagnosis disrupted my life. My family’s life. Fun activities, familiar routines, and life in general were overshadowed and replaced with moms’ surgeries, treatment and recovery. Thankfully through this difficult time we found blessings along the way. LPHH was one of those blessings. I am grateful for this ‘retreat’ which was a vacation planned for our family to relax, enjoy and create memories. I will forever cherish this experience, the memories created, and the people that provided us with this opportunity. I was not only fortunate to be chosen for this remarkable experience, but I was able to take advantage of the opportunity because we were able to afford the travel expenses associated with the trip. Some families cannot. This fundraiser is new this year and will directly help Little Pink cover the cost of travel for families who are in need. I will be ‘Wigging Out’ to raise these funds by wearing this pink wig, which to be honest, I’m not fond of! However, the kids have been a big part of this experience, encouraged me to do it, and are also looking forward to ‘wigging out’ with me. I encourage you to explore all Little Pink has to offer, their mission and participant stories so you can see the graciousness that was reflected upon my family and I, filling us with hope in a difficult time. Please help me reach my fundraising goal to assist Little Pink House of Hope in extending this experience to more people. In 2020, early in the pandemic, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. I was 43 at the time, a busy working mom with two kids at home doing virtual school. It was a scary time and I was in some kind of treatment or surgery recovery from May 2020 to March 2021. Since then, I continue to have regular pet scans, blood work and follow-ups. I take medications that make me tired, I have low levels in my blood work, and sometimes life feels heavy, but I never give up. I continued working and walking my way through cancer. After finishing treatment, I've refocused my life on strength and healing. In June 2022, my family had the opportunity to spend a magical week in Sedona, Arizona, with Little Pink Houses of Hope. The volunteers are amazing, many of them cancer thrivers and survivors themselves. It was an opportunity for my kids to see others kids who've had to deal with the scary reality of losing their mom. It was just so nice to have time together, hike in the beautiful red rocks and have fun experiences with others walking a similar path. It truly was a healing experience. In addition to my own experience with breast cancer, my grandmother died from metastatic breast cancer a few years ago and while I was in treatment, one of my cousins also died from metastatic breast cancer. I believe organizations like Little Pink Houses of Hope offer amazing opportunities to those of us living with this deadly disease every day. Prior to my breast cancer diagnosis, I was a healthy individual with many blessings. I've had a 20-year career educating and supporting foster and adoptive families as the editor of Fostering Families Today. The stories that the young people who've experienced foster care are some of the most profound and brave. Throughout my treatment, I thought often about the challenges they faced and it helped me be brave too. I never quit working throughout my treatment process because I also believe in the important work I do and the importance of impacting positively the lives of others. I hope my participation in this is a beautiful and fun way to meld my work and personal world together.

I was blessed with a trip from little pink after being diagnosed at only 33 years old with triple negative breast cancer. I’m a mom of 5 boys ages 16-3. My dad passed from cancer at age 33 in 1989 when I was 2 years old. I’m passionate about raising awareness and bringing attention to breast cancer.

I have been a volunteer with LPHOH in many capacities for several years. During this time, I was honored to serve as volun-Star at two different retreats at Carolina Beach. While serving these breast cancer families, I was able to see first hand the joy on not only the kids' faces, but on their parents' faces as they were able to as a family step away from the "real world" of cancer, and to be able to step into the world of a stress free, all expense paid vacation. Families are able to spend quality time experiencing fun activities with other cancer survivors and their families, or they can just hang out and explore on their own. The memories made will last a lifetime; since for some families, this will be their last trip together, ever. Time is so precious, and by supporting the LPHOH's mission, I feel like these families are being given more time - where everything is taken care of so they can just be together and forget about cancer for a little while.

I was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in January ‘08. I thought I did everything possible to prevent ever having it again. I had surgery, chemo, radiation and 5 years on preventative medications, but in July ‘18, I was diagnosed with metastasized breast cancer in my bones. The reason I’m doing this is because in October 2020 Little pink houses of Hope blessed me and my family a wonderful vacation in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Every family that fights this horrible disease deserves one week where they can enjoy their life without worrying about cancer. I want to give other families that little peace of mind.
